Panda love

Just a thought: why would biologists, who are presumably believers in evolution, be trying to help pandas overcome their evolutionary shortcomings? Surely they should be allowed to die out if they are incapable of reproducing effectively? By keeping the species artificially viable they are as guilty of messing with the ecosystem as anyone else.
